Sweet Basil
Sweet basil is one of the most popular herbs used around the world. The aromatic flavour in cooking teams-up beautifully with tomato based sauces, (with added onion and garlic). Perfect for pasta, in pestos, on pizza's, bruschetta, soups and added to dressings. Basil is a wonderful companion garden plant with tomatoes. This annual is easy to grow. When you start to see the stems begin to form flower clusters, prune or pick the tops to promote more leaf growth.
Planting Info
Annual, best planted spring - autumn. Full sun to part shade, plant seedlings at least 20cm apart. Can be planted in pots, have positioned in a well-lit area and great potting mix. Grows to 50-80cm. Moderate water and low fertiliser.
