Lemongrass
An essential in many Asian cuisines, especially Thai dishes, lemongrass has a delicious citrus flavour and pairs beautifully with chicken and fish. Also very popular drinking as a tea and used as an insect repellent, lemongrass is a versatile herb to grow in your garden. Grown as either an ornamental or for culinary uses it grows very quickly and will spread out from the base.
Growing Info
Plant in spring, summer or early autumn, best to space 30cm apart. Full or partial sun liking well-drained soil and good mulch around the base. Will require very little attention thereafter. A perennial herb, that doesn't mind a good prune when it's dormant around winter time. To harvest whole stalks of lemongrass, cut the stalks when they are approx 2.5 inches long and nearly an inch wide at the base.
